There were some great looking spiders on the vegetation at Upton Warren, well they were great as long as they stayed put in the nettles! Also seen were numerous Hoverfly, an Ichneumon Wasp and several Ladybirds. Highlight bird species were Whimbrel, Wood Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Greenshank, Oystercatcher, Common Snipe, L R Plover, Avocet and chicks, Canada Geese and goslings, Swift, G C Grebe, Common Tern, Hobby and a Cuckoo!

Avocet and chicks.

  1. Super Spider shots can keep him at your end tho!lol
You saw some smashing birds on your visit, those Avocet chicks are so cute,I hope they keep safe!
I heard my first Cuckoo today but couldn't see it.

  2. They had enormously long legs!!!!

It was good to stroll around Upton again and as you say some smashing birds were seen. Funnily enough I have had two Cuckoo sightings in 3 days...a bit like a bus isn't! Hope you see a Cuckoo soon.

Thanks for your kind comments Ruth!
